Peaked cap, jacket and webbing worn by New Zealand infantrymen, 1914-15. The uniform was the Territorial Force model issued in 1912. Coloured piping on the shoulders of the New Zealand-made jackets indicated branch of service – in this case, red for the infantry. The New Zealand Expeditionary Force replaced these 'extravagant' uniforms with standard British ones after the Gallipoli campaign.
