John Swan drew this set of architectural plan drawings for the new Home of Compassion Crèche building in 1914. Swan was one of Wellington’s most prominent architects of the early 20th century. St Gerard’s Monastery on Mt Victoria and Erskine College in Island Bay are other notable examples of his work. The Crèche building was constructed by Campbell and Burke, who had worked with Swan on a number of other occasions.
