Railways engineers training, 1914

Image

Members of the North Island Railway Battalion, New Zealand Engineers, build a firing trench at a Territorial Force training camp for officers and senior non-commissioned officers at Mahanga Bay, Wellington, in June 1914. As New Zealand Railways staff were heavily involved in providing  transport services for the main Territorial Force camps, the Railway Battalions generally held their own training camps at other times.
