Tauranga District High School memorial trees

Image

On 19 August 1949 local orchardist Mr C. Hansen planted two rows of totara trees at Tauranga District High School (now Tauranga Boys’ College) in honour of old boys of the school who had died during the Second World War. In 1957 the school’s memorial cairn was dedicated in the grove. There were originally 39 names inscribed on the cairn, but two more names were added later.
