Rangi Tuturua signed the Waitangi sheet of the Treaty of Waitangi at Waimate in the Bay of Islands on 9 or 10 February 1840. He was a rangatira (chief) of the Te Uri Taniwha hapū (subtribe) of the Ngāpuhi iwi.
