My father's name should be on this memorial.

James Lymburn Cowan and Robin Sinclair, who fought and died for waipawa. By his son Bryce Cowan

In the book 'Great Guns The Artillery Heritage of New Zealand' by Peter Cooke and Ian Maxwell (2nd ed. 2013) there is a page written about this 1918 WW1 trophy gun from Germany. It is a leFH16, Krupp trademark, and was awarded to the New Zealand Division and received by the NZ War Records Section in London in June 1919. It arrived in New Zealand by August 1920. Correspondence indicates it was issued to the Waipawa RSA by the War Museum committee in May 1925. Cooke and Maxwell write a good account of the history and commemorative significance of war trophies in New Zealand.

A fine war memorial clock tower. The only one I have come across with the statement 'in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'.
The First World War trophy gun beside the memorial - any information on who brought it back and why did it end up at Waipawa?
