This was a wonderful family and great friends of my parents. Henry and Esther Freeman had come from England. I was told that Henry, who was a cabinet maker, built their house in New Lynn where they bought up their sons Carl and Bruce Freeman. Esther and Henry were very hard working, active in politics, the local community and in helping others. They had a prolific vegetable garden practised healthy living and were extremely generous. I have wonderful memories of them entertaining us with recitations and stories at Saturday night soirées.
