I have recently researched the local newspaper reports of the Natives match against Wigan, (in which Joe Warbrick played full back) on the 17th December 1888. This contains a description of the arrival in town, the sightseeing visits arranged by the hosts and reports on the match, the banquet, speeeches and theatre visits afterwards. Quite a lot to cram into one day.
