Alfriston-Brookby First World War memorial

The Alfriston-Brookby First World War memorial was unveiled on the Manurewa to Brookby road on 15 November 1920. This plain but dignified granite obelisk was the first such memorial erected in South Auckland. It listed the names of thirteen local men who had given their lives during the war. After the Second World War a further three names were added. In 1966 the memorial was moved to a new site outside the Alfriston hall in Mill Road. In 1993 an inscription was added to commemorate service in Korea, Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam.
