What happened that day?

Butch, the Borneo mascot

Butch, the Borneo mascot

Butch, the dog, is pictured at Balia Dungin (?), Borneo, 1966 with (left to right) Mike Stirland, Bubs Holmes and Trev Williamson.

Brian Holmes recalled that '1 NZIR, Signals Platoon found this puppy and adopted it as their mascot. When the tour finished the dog was brought back to Wellington lines in Terendak Malacca. It was kept as a mascot until I went home and I don't know what happened to it after that.'
