Early Parliament Buildings, Wellington

The reconstruction of the buildings in the early 1870s is visible here. A new Legislative Council Chamber is being erected (far left), and the old chamber of the House of Representatives (centre-right) is being demolished to provide an enlarged chamber. The three-storey office block adjacent, on the Molesworth Street frontage, has already been completed.
