Memorial plaque and gardens dedicated to the crew and flight attendants who died in the Mt Erebus disaster.

On 28 November 2000, on the 21st anniversary of the Erebus disaster, work began on a memorial garden dedicated to the 15 flight attendants and five flight crew who died in the crash. It is situated between Tom Pearce Drive and the Pukaki Creek, overlooking the eastern approaches to Auckland International Airport. Reverend Jim Rauwhero gave the blessing and Bob Morrison, the father of one of the victims, turned the first sod.

The garden was opened in early 2001 The 20 names are recorded on a plaque set into a memorial stone at the centre of the garden. A native shrub was planted for each victim.

A Air New Zealand staff member also died on Mount Erebus. She was Peg (Margaret ) Joyce McKenzie. She was a travel consultant at Napier Travelcentre. Peg spent her whole life working for NAC and Air New Zealand and was due to retire a month later.
I was working with Peg also.
