German mountain troops

German troops from the 100th Mountain Regiment pose for a photograph prior to boarding a Ju 52 transport aircraft for Crete. Elements of this unit – Regimental Headquarters and II Battalion – were among the first wave of German reinforcements to land at Maleme airfield during the afternoon of 21 May 1941.
