Two of my great uncles are on this war memorial - Daniel Augustine O'Connor and Michael Bernard O'Connor. Both had been to university - fairly unusual for the time especially as they were the sons of Irish immigrants. Both were killed within a month of each other in 1918 at the ages of 28 and 23.
