Kaikōura war memorial

Kaikōura war memorial, c1986.

Located beside the sea in the Garden of Memories, is the Kaikōura War Memorial. Originally unveiled in 1921, the obelisk displayed the names of those who had died in the First World War. The plaques now include the names of those killed in the South African War 1899-1902, the Korean War 1950-1953, the Malayan conflict 1952-1960, Borneo 1965-1966, and the Vietnam War 1964-1975.

The obelisk is now surrounded by gardens designed by the late Lydia Washington who created garden plots commemorating specific battles from WWI. The gates at the entrance to the garden and memorial, stand in tribute to Lydia Washington's work.

Is T Cooke VC listed on this memorial? Are there any specific memorials to him in Kaikoura or surrounds?
