Levin Santa

Levin Santa

Levin’s giant Santa (formerly of Christchurch) at the Levin Adventure Park in 2007.

In 2001 Levin couple Malcolm and Mary Russell purchased the giant Santa that graced Hay’s department store in Christchurch for almost 40 years. They received generous support from the local community. The Santa is erected at Levin’s Adventure Park at Christmas each year.

When Auckland City began asking ratepayers whether they would foot the $55,000 bill for their giant Santa in 2009, Horowhenua District Council Mayor Brendan Duffy called attention to the fact that Levin was able to maintain their Santa through contributions from the local community.
