The Second World War memorial gates at Hinemaurea ki Mangatuna Marae, near Tolaga Bay, were opened in 1946. All four pillars of the gates are inset with polished granite tablets. The inscriptions on the tablets on the two flanking pillars read:-

HE / TOHU AROHA / NA TE IWI KI NGA / TAMARIKI I MATE / KI TE PAE O TE / PAKANGA. / 1939 – 1945.

A / LOVING TRIBUTE / BY THE PEOPLE / TO THOSE BOYS / WHO DIED ON THE / FIELD OF BATTLE. / 1939 – 1945.

The other two tablets list the  names of 21 local men who gave their lives during the war.

From the above information, the memorial gates were opened in 1946. Whom erected the gates and what was the name of the Papakainga at that particular time? Thanks
