Merchant Navy propaganda poster

A British propaganda poster trumpets the Merchant Navy's role in maintaining that country's vital ocean lifeline in the Battle of the Atlantic, one of the most crucial campaigns of the entire war. While the deadliest threat to Allied merchant shipping throughout the war was the German U-boat fleet, surface raiders like the ill-fated 'pocket battleship' Admiral Graf Spee also made sporadic raids on the Atlantic sealanes.
