Piopio war memorials

On 29 September 1922 Major-General Sir A.H. Russell unveiled the Pio Pio First World War memorial. The granite obelisk was mounted on a stepped concrete base and inscribed with the names of 18 men from the district who had given their lives during the war. Another 15 names were added after the Second World War.

The Pio Pio War Memorial Hall, which stands immediately behind the obelisk, was opened on 13 March 1954.
