Plans for expansion of Parliament Buildings, 1908

This 1908 plan for the new Parliament Buildings was never built. It shows the position of Government House (outlined in black), which was to be replaced by a larger, new structure built around it. Budgetry restraints meant Government House survived, and a more modest Legislative Chamber and House were built as a separate structure in a new plan. Note that the current Parliament Buildings cross the area marked by Sydney Street on this plan, and the Beehive is located approximately on the old Government House site.
