Redwood 70 festival poster

Poster advertising Redwood '70 - New Zealand's first national rock music festival held over two days in West Auckland in 1970. Robin Gibb, during a brief solo career away from The Bee Gees, headlined with a strong supporting cast of New Zealand pop, rock, folk, jugband, blues and gospel groups indicating a still vibrant local music scene. Despite crowds of over 9000 the festival was not a financial success.

I was at Redwood 70. Only 15 years old. Who would believe that 30 years later I would own a property that bordered on Redwood Park and the stream that the hippies bathed in was the border of my property in Swanson. I had 2.5 acres between my house and the Park which is now a golf course.
