Ruapuna war memorial

World War I memorial plaque World War I roll of honour World War II memorial plaque World War II roll of honour

The war memorial in the Canterbury town of Ruapuna consists of a cast iron gate and adjacent stone wall. The gate commemorates those who died and served in the First World War, whereas the more modern stone wall commemorates those who died and served in the Second World War.

It is interesting to note that the plaques distinguish between those who 'made the supreme sacrifice' and those who served.
