Ryal Bush war memorial.

Further information from Vince Boyle:

Ryal Bush memorial is sited on the former main Invercargill-Winton highway. It was opened in 1926 and restored by the Lions club of Makarewa in 2003 with much publicity after years of neglect. It includes the name of Dick Travis VC 'the King of No Man's Land' who worked in the district as a horse breaker. His relatives came down from the North Island (Gisborne I think) for the re-opening. A metal railing surrounds the monument which is pretty standard polished stone.

Jock Phillips, May 2008.
