Seddonville war memorial
Memorial gates to the Seddonville Domain - Utopia Road, about 1 km NW of hotel.
This is a lonely monument as Seddonville is now a much smaller settlement than it used to be. The domain was reserved in early days (files in Archives NZ) and the gates were added later. The domain is now overgrown, and the memorial is almost overlooked.

Despite its lonely location, each ANZAC dawn the area echo's to the sound of the pipes of a lone piper. Started by an expat who visited the pub one year, and who anounced his intention to carry out a lone vigil on ANZAC Day, several locals joined him. He now makes a special trip each year and the number turning out has increased, including many young people....
