This is the original First World War memorial in the grounds of St Paul's church in Harewood Rd, Papanui (Canterbury) . The cairn looks like it may have had a light on it but has long since disappeared , the tablets are only on two sides with the other two sides left bare as if they knew there would be more conflicts at a later date.
Many of the names also appear on the main Papanui war memorial.
