The Queen in Marton, 1954

The Queen is greeted by local dignitaries in Marton

My father Jim Richards took this photograph of the Queen when she was in Marton in 1953. He had a Photography business (Richards Studios) in Marton and Wanganui for more than 25 years. This photograph was his pride and joy. He always told the story that as was his customary way of getting people to look at the camera and smile he clicked his tongue at the Queen and she looked around at him allowing a perfect shot.
