Tikipunga-Glenbervie roll of honour board

On 4 June 1947 the Tikipunga-Glenbervie roll of honour was unveiled at Glenbervie School. The wooden memorial tablet, commissioned by the local branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, listed the names of 33 men from the district who had seen active service during the Second World War. Three of these men had been killed in action (J. Parata, H. Collinson and J.C. [i.e. C.J.] Finlayson).

The roll of honour was later transferred to the Glenbervie community hall, where it remains today.

The Women’s Division had previously presented an altar cross to the local Anglican Church in memory of Private Jack Parata and Gunner Cullen John Finlayson. Private Parata is also remembered on a family memorial in the churchyard of what is now known as the Pehiaweri Māori Church.
