Wahine lifeboat appeal

The Wahine disaster on 10 April 1968 spurred the formation of the Wellington Sea Rescue Service (now the Wellington Volunteer Coastguard). The organisation's first lifeboat was purchased with funds raised through a public Wahine memorial appeal.
