Niniwa whangai Mateau Makiha from Waima Hokianga her mother Ani Takirau or Karani Moetu and her father Topia Makiha who was the elder brother to Mita Taupopoki of Te Arawa he died before his father.
After Niniwa could not bear children she had Mateau bear them with Tomaihoutua while Niniwa was still living.
