Thomas Adam Christie was my maternal grandfather. He died in his 70s. I remember him as a quiet, kind and clever man who was very clever with his hands. He made wonderful wooden toys in his cellar workshop in Timaru. I regret that he did not live longer so that I, then a small boy, could have got to know him better.
