Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jessie Mary Rowe Forrest was born about 1839 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She emigrated to New Zealand about 1858 and she married David McIntyre, a bullock driver, on 24 July 1860 in the Milton parish.

They had 10 children, at least one who died in infancy.

The family were living in Owaka when Jessie signed the suffrage petition.

In their later years they moved to Dunedin where Jessie died on 19 November 1917 and David died a month later, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
