Jane Douglas Dickson was born about 1850.

She married Isaac McFarlane, a bootmaker from Blue Spur near Lawrence, on 9 July 1884 at Knox Church, Dunedin.

They had no children and lived at Blue Spur where Jane signed the suffrage petition.

Isaac died in 1906 leaving 'a widow, a lady of wide reading and varied accomplishments'.

Jane died at Lawrence on 6 August 1910, they are buried together in the Lawrence Cemetery.
