Albany High School war memorial guardian

Image

Albany High School war memorial guardian.

The memorial guardian itself is carved from one of six trees memorializing ex-pupils who, as soldiers, were killed during the First World War. The decision to make a guardian of the tree came owing to the necessity to fell the tree during the recent construction of the new schol buildings. The memorial reserve (which includes the remaining five trees) is off limits to the school as it's a breeding place for an endangered lizard.
