Lowburn church memorial window

Lowburn Ferry Presbyterian Church is a small church in Central Otago. The church has a stained glass window which was installed by Christina Foster in memory of her sons Henry, William and Robert, who died in the First World War. It also memorialises her husband, Edward.

The church was opened on 23 April 1939. The stained glass window was unveiled during the opening service. The dedication reads: 

ERECTED BY CHRISTINE FOSTER IN MEMORY OF HER SONS HENRY / WILLIAM AND ROBERT WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY / IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918  ASO HER HUSBAND EDWARD FOSTER.

The window depicts the figure of a knight with a shield and drawn sword, representing the virtue of Fortitude.
