The Maketū war memorial is a three-metre high boulder set in concrete on the Maketū Reserve beside the Kaituna River estuary. It was first blessed in the early morning of Anzac Day 2015. The plaque provided by the Te Puke RSA Charitable Trust reads:
'ANZAC/ They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old/ Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn/ At the going down of the sun/ and in the morning/ We will remember them/ LEST WE FORGET'
