Ōkato war memorial

The Ōkato Great War memorial was unveiled on 12 November 1922. It listed the names of 16 men who had given their lives: Lieutenant E.L. Malone, Sergeant G.L. Newlove, Corporal J.H. Burrows, Lance-Corporal J. Clark, Lance-Corporal H.A. Corbett, Trooper R. Kelly, and Privates W. Clark, A, Corbett, H. Gordge, R.I. Hill, A.E. Howell, S.H. Julian, G. O'Connor, W.J. Simpson, E.C. Tunnecliff and A.E. Ellis.

After the Second World War seven more names were added (unveiled on 11 April 1948): Flight Sergeant F.F.A. Jenkins, Flight Sergeant J.A. Power, Lance-Corporal A.E. Keith, and Privates L.C.W. Corbett, J.L. Harrison, E.P. Richardson and M.J. Shotter.
