A servicemen's cemetery was established outside the old Maungaturoto public hall in April 1950. This incorporated a memorial flagpole with the inscription, 'The Fallen: let their memory inspire us to work for an everlasting peace.'

On Anzac Day 1997 the Otamatea RSA also unveiled a black granite memorial stone in the cemetery. This was inscribed with the Otamatea District Roll of Honour, listing the names of 74 men from the district  who had died on active service overseas during the First World War and 36 from the Second World War The names had been compiled from existing rolls of honour within the former Otamatea County: Hakaru, Hukatere, Kaiwaka, Mareretu, Matakohe, Mangawhai, Maungaturoto, Paparoa and Ruawai.
