Bombay War Memorial Recreation Ground

Bombay War Memorial Recreation Ground.

On 22 November 1923 the Mayor of Auckland, Mr J.H. Gunson, opened the Bombay War Memorial Recreation Ground. The five-acre recreation ground included four tennis courts, a football field, and a sports pavilion, with space also set aside for a garden. A memorial stone arch and ornamental gates were set into a low stone wall along the frontage.
