Between 1942 and 1946, 38 large lace panels were produced in England to commemorate the Battle of Britain and to pay tribute to all those who had taken part. Each panel measures 4.5 m long and 1.62 m wide, and is made of fine Egyptian cotton. One panel was gifted to New Zealand and is held at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. The Air Force Museum of New Zealand purchased this particular panel privately in the United Kingdom in 2008.
