German tank recognition panel

German tank recognition panel

This recognition panel was taken from a disabled German tank near the village of Norfilia, Tripolitania in Libya, by members of 15 Platoon, 26th Battalion Second New Expeditionary Force (2NZEF), on 17 December 1942. It would have been fixed to the tank to ensure aerial recognition by German planes.

The panel is currently on display at the National Army Museum in Waiouru.
