Henry Coutts

Canterbury-born Henry Coutts won royal recognition for rescuing a wounded soldier after a British column had been ambushed at Sannah's Point on 30 March 1900. For his bravery Private Coutts was presented with one of the four scarves that Queen Victoria had knitted as a reward for gallant soldiers.
