The Kaihu war memorial hall was opened in 1953, replacing an earlier hall which had been moved to Whangarei. The hall has no indication of its memorial status on the exterior, but the lobby houses a district roll of honour which lists the names of 30 men who died in the First World War and 11 who died in the Second World War, and of 86 and 129 men who also served respectively.
