The school is closed, but is now registered as a category 1 Historic Place. Memorial gates and a plaque were erected in 2006.

Paid a visit to the school today. An interesting experience. only 4000 visitors over 40 years. The history of the school and the house site is of interest to everyone. There is a need for remedial work to be carried out on the buildings. And financial support is needed. It is in our interests (The Nation ) that thisdoes not fade into oblivion. Good on you Kotuku Community for your efforts
