Nurses roll of honour, Onehunga

Wooden plaques fixed on a wall with lists of names in gold lettering

These two memorial tablets hang in a stairwell at the Onehunga RSA. They are the rolls of honour of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Returned Army Nursing Sisters Association. This was formed in 1928 with membership open to nursing sisters who had served overseas with the NZ Army Nursing Service. It lists former members by year of death. The entries began with Sister K. Cumming in 1931 (the list starts with the two central panels of the top tablet and continues outwards from there).

Although the association was wound up in 1996, at the time the photograph was taken (October 2015), names had been added to the list as recently as 2006, to a total of 272 names.
