South African War memorial at Pareora West in South Canterbury.

The inscription says, 'In Honoured Memory of William Nelthorpe Moffatt, John Butler, Thomas Lorrimer Scott who volunteered at the nation's call and fell fighting in South Africa. Boer War A.D. 1900. Erected by the residents of the district.' It was built by 'S McBride' of Timaru.

This is one of New Zealand's earliest South African War memorials.

A plaque near the memorial marks the location of a Wesleyan Methodist church built in 1870 but now removed.
