Silver Fern railcar

Passengers board the Silver Fern railcar at Wellington railway station in 1974. These railcars ran a daylight passenger service on the North Island Main Trunk from December 1972 to December 1991.

I half-remember a little song from years ago that must be related: I went to windy Wellington on the Silver Star, it huffed and puffed along the tracks much faster than a car ... anyone know the rest?!
