Sumner RSA memorial
Sumner New Zealand Returned and Services' Association memorial. The memorial was dedicated on Anzac Day 1947.
The Sumner RSA building was badly damaged in the 22 February 2011 Christchurch earthquake – related video (YouTube).

I believe from an interview with someone connected to the RSA i saw on tv not long after the earthquake, that the restaurant of the RSA was closed as it was a Tuesday and not normally open anyway. This helped prevent many injuries and possibly deaths.

I am sure that there were no RSA members hurt , but we do have 166 at last count dead with a total of about 220 people reported missing with Red Cross

Yes the two fatalities at they site is so sad, were any RSA members injured?

Sadly William there were 2 fatalities at this site , they were working on a building site next door
It was so sad to see on BBC news (here in Ireland) the RSA hall in Sumner after the earthquake. I do hope that there was not any loss of life or injury at the site.
