Tunisia campaign map, March-May 1943
From Tripoli the Allies advanced into Tunisia. The New Zealand Divison, supported by British and French units, attacks Tebaga Gap at the end of March 1943. Axis forces withdraw to Enfidaville further up the coast. The last battle of the campaign for the New Zealanders is at Takrouna where 5th (NZ) Brigade prevail after an epic fight. On 13 May 1943 German-Italian forces in North Africa surrender to the Allies.
