Mrs Rowena Knox (nee FitzHerbert) was the wife of Robert John Knox, an influential settler in Turakina (near Marton and Whanganui). Mr Knox was a farmer in the area, but from March 1875 he was also an elected member of the Town Board, secretary and treasurer to the Lethbridge Town Board and chairman of the Turakina School Committee.
