Agnes McCaw was born on 13 May 1867 in Tynron, Dumfriesshire, Scotland – the daughter of William McCaw, a shepherd, and Isabella Todd.
In 1880 the family emigrated to New Zealand on the Stirlingshire arriving in Wellington in September.
The family travelled to the South Island and settled on a farm at Glenore, near to Milton.
Agnes married Alexander Currie, a farm worker, on 5 September 1890 – they had 10 children.
When Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living at Glenore, they later moved to Milton where Alexander died in 1932.
Agnes remained in Milton - she died on 20 August 1953 and is buried with Alexander in the Milton/Fairfax Cemetery.
